CATHAL MINIHANE – Partner

Cathal Minihane Solicitor, BA, LLM, Accredited Mediator, qualified as a solicitor from the Law Society of Ireland in 2002 having graduated from the University of Limerick with a BA in Law and Accounting in 1998. In 2008 he was awarded a Master of Laws by NUI Galway, graduating with first class honours. He presented papers on Equality, Constitutional Law, Criminal Jury and Law Reform. He is also admitted to the Roll of Solicitors for England and Wales.

After serving his apprenticeship in Limerick City Cathal worked for a Dublin law firm before returning to Limerick to work for a well established Limerick law firm for 8 years where he was the main legal adviser to the Health Service Executive in Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary. He has significant experience in personal injury litigation, judicial review and medical law. Cathal specialises in personal injury cases. He acts for clients who have been injured in road traffic accidents, who have been injured in the workplace or a public place or who have been harmed by negligent medical practice. He has a record of achieving excellent results for his clients.

Cathal assists with the delivery of the FLAC clinic in the Citizens Information Centre and is Chairman of the Hearings Committee of the GAA’s Limerick County Board.

 

 

HUGH CLOHESSY – Partner

Hugh has a broad practice focused on work in the areas of Property, Corporate Finance, Company and Commercial Law and Insolvency. Hugh obtained a BCL from University College Cork and qualified as a solicitor with a leading commercial and banking practice and is a co-founding partner of the firm. He has also obtained diplomas in Commercial Conveyancing, Trust and Estate Planning and Aviation Finance and Leasing.

Hugh acts for and advises companies, partnerships, pension funds, investors, developers and private individuals on the acquisition, development, leasing, financing and disposal of commercial property.

Hugh is a member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners and also provides advice across a broad spectrum of insolvency and restructuring matters, acting for insolvency practitioners, directors, shareholders, lenders, borrowers and other stakeholders on a wide range of insolvency and restructuring issues particularly those involving property and property related assets.

His commercial work also involves advising on company fund raisings, company exits, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, joint ventures and shareholder and boardroom dispute resolution. Hugh advises clients from initial start up to growth and development transactions, whether by equity or debt funding, acquisition or joint venture, reorganisation or restructuring, disposal via sale or buyout. Hugh works with an array of corporate borrowers including start-ups, fast-growth businesses and established companies. Hugh also works with private lenders and investor funds and consortia in advising on secured and unsecured lending transactions.

Hugh is also regularly retained to act in resolving commercial disputes and his litigation and dispute resolution work has involved acting in disputes relating to fraud and fund mismanagement, property, construction, insolvency, insurance, banking, company law, partnerships and Financial Services Ombudsman complaints.

DES CLOHESSY – Legal Executive

Des is a fellowship member of the Institute of Irish Legal Executives since 1987.  He is also a Supreme Court appointed Commissioner for Oaths since 1984.

Des has a wealth of experience over a long number of years in representing clients in courts at all levels throughout Ireland, District Court, Circuit Court and High Court.  He commenced working with O’Donnell Dundon & Company Solicitors in 1981 before working with O’Donnell Dalton Hogan Solicitors from 1993 to 1996.  He then worked with Dermot G O’ Donovan & Partners for twenty years primarily in personal injury litigation before joining Clohessy Minihane Solicitors in 2016.

Personal Injury Litigation is Des’ speciality and he puts his valuable experience to work for his clients in advising them on their personal injury case and getting results for them.

After qualifying as a solicitor in 2001 Jackie worked for legal firms in Limerick City and Ennis where she acquired a broad range of experience across a number of practice areas including personal injury litigation and family law. She is a capable advocate, having regularly attended court on behalf of clients. Jackie also gained extensive experience in all aspects of Conveyancing, in particular residential conveyancing where she has a very client focused approach to her work. Jackie subsequently qualified as a certified mediator with the Mediators Institute of Ireland and is very interested in alternative dispute resolution as a remedy for conflict, especially in the workplace and in family law.
